3 times tables rythm & video test for children

There are so many methods and media for going through three times tables practice.

One of the least common examples is probably this video that offers to children to revise number 3 times tables progressively from 1 to 10 in ascending order, then randomly. By doing that, children’s knowledge is strengthening easily and efficiently.

On a cleverly orchestrated rap rhythm, they remember multiplication by 3 and at the end of the video there is a test where the times tables are set and the answers come from the children. That’s a rather fun way to review x3 times tables.

Explanation

Three times multiplication video lesson and test

To explain the multiplication by 3, we will use array, repetitive additions, equal groups, but also a pretty simple method using a line numbers with multiples of 3 values and thus the resulting from 0 to 12.

Multiply by 3 using array repartition

In this example to help us start with Three times tables practice we’ll consider the following problem:
Three children go picnic, each child takes 3 juice cans. How many cans they have in all?

To find the number of juice cans that children have, we will fill a multiplication array taking into account the information provided in the problem as follows:

  • 3 children correspond to 3 rows in the array;
  • Each child has 3 juice cans; this means we have three columns too.

By counting all cans in the array we get “9”, which is the solution to our problem. 3 x 3 = 9

Multiply by 3 using repeated addition

We can also use repetitive addition to resolve the previous problem. We have 3 kids with 3 cans per kid. The following repetitive addition represents our multiplication expression:

3 + 3 + 3 = 9 3 x 3 = 9

Here we are. We can easily see that the result is the same; to obtain 3×3 sum, repetitive addition is ones of the best method to obtain fast result (especially if we have small numbers).

Multiply by 3 using equal group

We have used array and repetitive addition to solve our arithmetic problem; but that wasn’t the only way to afford it. Multiplication can be also suitable and easy to do with equal group method.

In that case, we simply represent 3 groups representing our three children, then we associate 3 juice cans to each kid. The can observe that the result is the same; they are 9 cans in total. 3 x 3 = 9.

Multiplication by 3 using number line

Another way to solve multiplication by 3 times tables is number line. The number line values are 3 times tables sums (0 to 36).
Using this to solve “3 x 3” means we have to hops three times forward on the number line; we stop right on 9 which is the same solution as for the other methods.
